If you are learning to deal with the problem of prostate cancer, we can help. The Riverside Urology Prostate Cancer Support Group offers an opportunity to gain valuable information from a group that understands the unique problems associated with prostate cancer.
Dr. Riemenschneider, a urologic surgeon in private practice at Riverside Methodist Hospitals in Columbus, Ohio, recognized that traditional support groups were not meeting the needs of his prostate cancer patients. They require a group setting where specific medical, social and psychological effects of prostate cancer are better understood. Most importantly, they wanted easy access to information on various treatment options and updates on clinical developments in prostate cancer research.

Dr. Riemenschneider addressing a recent prostate cancer support group
With this goal as a blueprint, the Prostate Cancer Support Group was organized in the spring of 1991. Dr. C.J. McKitrick, a retired physician and prostate cancer patient, was instrumental in helping transform the group from an idea to a reality. Dr. Mckitrick continues to serve as the informal leader of our meetings. His background as a physician provides an understanding of the clinical aspects of this disease, while his personal experience with prostate cancer lends insights into the unique problems faced by this group of patients and their families.
Meetings are held every month with no costs to the participants. For more information please call (614) 442-3000 or e-mail us at ProstateSupport@2rui.com.
